X-Factor New Zeland Blogs

As i’m sure you’re very aware by now. Rachel made a surprise guest appearance on X-Factor New Zealand, Their official site has posted a blog about tonight’s episode.

North of Auckland on the Mahurangi Peninsula, Mel Blatt was joined by none other than Rachel Stevens from S Club 7. Judging by the reaction on Twitter, I wasn’t the only one extremely excited by this. There ain’t no party like an S Club party! The groups’ retreat kicked off with The Young Project covering One Direction’s ‘Let Me Kiss You’. Blatt called them “too darn cute” and Rachel Stevens agreed. They can put that on their CV!

John, John and John from ANABAC were next. I’m still amused by the fact they are all called John. Their vocals were lovely. Stevens told Blatt she was going to have a tough choice choosing who to put through. L.O.V.E claimed their “angle of difference” would get them through to the live shows. The rap duo was probably the weakest group retreat audition though. I’m not sure they are a good fit.

Gap 5 were head to toe in hipster fashion for another week and performed better than anything I’d heard from them all series. Tonight’s decision will be very interesting. Which of the groups will get the chop? Blatt and Stevens retired for the evening, glasses of wine in hand with big decisions to make.

Hopefully we can get some videos of Rachel on the show, For the meantime, vote in this poll!

Rachel Stevens joins X Factor, New Zealand

Former S Club 7 singer and Strictly Come Dancing star, Rachel Stevens, will be revealed as a guest judge on tonight and tomorrow’s X Factor, New Zealand (TV3), starring alongside All Saints’ judge Melanie Blatt.

Rachel arrived in New Zealand just a few weeks ago to surprise contestants in the ‘groups’ category when their mentor (Mel) was revealed to them along with Rachel to help her decide who to put through to live shows. Arriving in style, Rachel was flown by helicopter to the stunning judge’s retreatin Mahurangi, 40 miles north of Auckland, where the contestants eagerly awaited the news of who their mentor and guest judge were. After their excitement of being partnered with Mel, Rachel was revealed and the groups spontaneously burst into a medley of S Club songs.

S Club 7 sold over 14 million records, received two Brit Awards and their TV show was televised in 114 countries world wide.Rachel said; “This was my first visit back to New Zealand since we toured here as a band and it was lovely to see there’s still a lot of S Club love out there! I’m a huge X Factor fan and like lots of other people, Saturday nights are often spent ‘critiquing’ contestants from the sofa so it was great to be able to do it for real. Mel will be a fantastic mentor and has some great contestants in her team. I’ll be supporting her and the groups all the way and hope she has the winner!”

Rachel flew into New Zealand for a whirlwind 4 day trip before flying back to London and then to Paris to shoot the new A/W campaign for Next, who she continues to work with as the face of their Petite’s range.Rachel said; “It was an exciting week and great fun to be part of the show. I got quite nostalgic seeing the young bands enjoying themselves, creating new styles and sounds. It was lovely to be part of. I had a great time in S Club and know how much they’ve got to look forward to. Being back in New Zealand, albeit briefly was a pleasure and I’m excited for Mel and for the show.”

John McDonald, Co-Exec Producer of X Factor NZ said; “Rachel was the perfect addition to help Mel with her decision and she did a great job. Her feedback was incredibly valuable to the contestants and to Mel having been very successful in a band herself. Plus she was a natural in front of the camera.”

Boy band Blue have putting their backing for S Club 7 to appear on season 2 of “The Big Reunion”. Blue got put back together along side Atomic Kitten, B*Witched, and Liberty X (To name a few..) for the first season of the popular ITV2 television series, but they’ve put their support behind S Club being an act in season 2.

”This song [Don’t Stop Movin’ UK #1) beat us to Record of the Year in 2001. We were winning, winning, winning, then they started beating us. They pipped us to the post.” claims Antony Costa ”Think how big their tours were, they were crazy!” adds Lee Ryan.

Since the show Blue have gone on to release 3 singles and an album and will headlined a tour along side the other contestants at the show, with ticket sales selling out within minutes of going on sale.

From now on, i’m going to be adding random poll’s to the side bar, pertaining to relevant news as of that moment in time. I’ve went ahead and added the first poll. Feel free to vote and voice your opinion!
