There is literally so much news going on right now! Rachel’s just announced that she will appear along side Tristan MacManus (rather than Vincent) in this years Christmas special for Strictly. Read the official announcement below!!
It’s all go at Rachel HQ at the moment with The Voice and getting back together with S Club 7 for Children in Need and just when I thought it couldn’t get any more exciting/couldn’t squeeze any more dates into the diary … I can now announce that I’ll be back on TV for the Strictly Come Dancing Christmas Special!
I’ve been twitching to tell you about this for a little while but have been sworn to secrecy! As you know, I’m a huge Strictly fan (I’m #TeamFrankie all the way this year although there are a LOT of good people in the line up so I’m hooked as usual) so to be able to put my dancing shoes back on is amazing. We’re back in rehearsals getting ready for a pantomime inspired Christmas routine and whilst it’s strange not to be dancing with Vincent as we had a very special bond, Tristan MacManus is my equally fabulous partner in crime this year and we’re having lots of fun already as he puts me through my paces. So a big thank you to him!
Other people joining the Christmas Special this year are Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Lisa Riley, Louis Smith, Chris Hollins and Russell Grant – Sir Bruce will also be back this year hosting with Tess so it will be like old times!
I really miss dancing, it’s such a great feeling once you’ve got the routine down. And it’s one of the best work outs I’ve done! When you’re in your dress, the music starts and the live audience get excited of course it’s really nerve wracking and you slightly wonder what you’re doing and if you’ll remember the steps and all those kinds of things but the feeling you have in those few minutes with your partner, is magical.
I can’t wait to get under that famous glitter ball again and I hope you’ll tune in to find out what we’re dancing to, I’d love your support.
Here’s a little follow-up interview with Rachel from Mother & Baby, it talks a little about being pregnant with Minnie whilst chasing Amelie around, as well as if any more kids are on the horizon.
The S Club singer opens up about the new most important role in her life – parenthood
Not long after our interview and photo shoot with Rachel Stevens, it’s announced that S Club 7 are reuniting for Children In Need. So it’s back to some of the most energetic dance routines ever (Don’t Stop Movin’, anyone?) for the mum of two.
Now happily settled with her husband Alex and daughters Amelie, four, and the other star of our photo shoot Minnie, seven months, Rachel’s come along way since the combat trousers and crop tops. And, she’s learning how to navigate feisty toddlers, baby massage and sleepless nights with the rest of us.
When you’re pregnant first time around, everyone looks after you. You get your feet massaged and cushions behind your back. But with my second pregnancy, I had a toddler to run around after. Amelie’s not the type of child who’ll stand with me – she’s a free spirit and will just bomb it down the street, so I’d pick her up from nursery and be trying to chase her with this big bump…
I can see the girls’ relationship growing already. Amelie’s adorable with Minnie, always helping me and cuddling her – although at the beginning she’d almost squash her… it was a loving thing but her just not knowing how soft to be with the baby! I think with your first, they’re all in cotton wool but the second one’s tougher because they just kind of get poked and prodded.
I always knew Alex would make a brilliant dad. I remember seeing him with his nieces and reading them stories before bed. Now he’ll bath Minnie, put all the cream on her, do baby massage and play soft music when he’s giving her a bottle. He’s really hands on.
The thing I’m really strict about is manners, but discipline is so difficult. I’ve read a brilliant book called How To Talk So Kids Will Listen and Listen So Kids Will Talk and it’s all about your child not knowing how to express themselves. So, instead of pointing your finger and shouting, it tells you how to really listen and it’s worked with Amelie.
Some people are adamant they’re done with having children, but I’d never say never to another baby. Who knows in a few years’ time, maybe we’d love to. But now I’m very content. I’ve got my two girls and I’m very happy.
