She narrowly missed being crowned the winner having sailed straight through to the finals on Strictly Come Dancing six years ago. And now Rachel Stevens – who is set make a glamorous return for the Christmas special – has confessed she is backing fellow pop star Frankie Bridge to take home the glitter ball trophy this weekend. In an interview with MailOnline, the 36-year-old singer revealed: ‘I am Team Frankie all the way. I love all of them but she’s just so great. Rachel, now a mother-of-two, has said her eldest daughter Amelie, aged four, is particularly excited to watch her perform in the festive special. ‘My daughter Amelie is that age where she kind of understands things more,’ she explained. ‘After Children In Need, she watched it over and over again and knows all the words to Bring It All Back, so she’s going to love watching Strictly.
‘It will definitely be on the TV during Christmas day. I’m going to be with all my family, my mum, my mother-in-law, they all love the show. It’s such a great festive one to watch.’ Although, the S Club 7 star wishes she could do Strictly all over again, she said the whole experience was actually ‘nerve-wracking’. ‘I wish I could do it all again and every time I watch it I feel like that,’ she admitted. ‘It was so good to be back dancing again, I loved it. I don’t miss the nerves of the show. ‘I saw Frankie the other day and everyone says the exact same thing. The nerves on that show is just crazy and I think no matter how much you have performed or danced in your career it takes everybody out of your comfort zone.’ ‘You’re dancing with a partner, with someone who is kind of relying on you to be up to that pressure. Then the next minute you’re in front of millions of people – it was just difficult, nerve wrecking.’ Read More…
Another interview has been released in preparations for Rachel’s upcoming appearance on ‘Strictly’.
She narrowly missed out on winning Strictly six years ago and now as she returns on Christmas Day, Rachel Stevens admits she is putting herself under pressure to get the moves right in her Viennese waltz.
“It does feel a bit weird to be back,” says the 36 year old. “I’ve got a new partner, Tristan, who is taller than my previous partner Vincent Simone and I do feel the pressure a bit. I don’t like making mistakes.
“That said, it’s so much fun and the moment you sit back in the make-up chair you find yourself saying ‘sparkle me up’. It’s like you never left.
“This show is the best one and when I watch it now as a viewer, I do miss it. You get so into it. You really care about it.”
Now a mum of two, Rachel says her eldest daughter, four-year-old Amelie, is particularly excited about her return to Strictly. “She’s even been interviewed beforehand to talk about me doing it,” explains Rachel. “We will definitely be watching because she is so excited.”
Counting down the days until Christmas, which she will be spending at her sister-in-law’s, Rachel says she is totally relishing motherhood.
“I do love it,” she says. “The juggling is tough but it’s so nice and I can’t wait for Christmas. On birthdays and Christmas I do spoil my children.”
Next year is going to be a big year for Rachel as she reunites with her S Club 7 band mates for a tour. “It’s the right time,” she says. “We are all really looking forward to it.”
You read that correctly…. baby Amelie is getting interviewed on Strictly! I’m so excited!!
Rachel’s dance partner for Strictly Come Dancing Christmas spoke fondly of Rachel in a new interview!
We understand that the Christmas Special has already been taped to air on Christmas Day, and our question has nothing to do with the results. What was Rachel Stevens like as a partner and what were her strengths? How much time did you end up rehearsing as a team for the show?
Rach was great. I really, really have a lot of time for her. She is just really talented and she was on the show before and was trained really well by Vincent Simone so it made it a lot easier even considering it had been six or seven years since she had been on. She’s just a really nice, sweet, beautiful girl. We got a dance that, to be honest, neither of us really wanted to do but she was great in it, and I loved working with her. We didn’t get too much rehearsal time because her band SCLUB7 had just got back together and were rehearsing and also she is a judge on The Voice in Ireland of all places so she had been flying around the place but we got enough in to put our dance together and to get to know each other a little.
With the holidays around the corner, and all of the exciting projects Rachel has lined up for 2015, lets not forget that in just 2 weeks time Rachel will be competing for the crown on Strictly Come Dancing Christmas special (2014!)
The first pictures from the show have been released, along with the theme.
