Rachel to Appear on Strictly Come Dancing Christmas

strictly_xmas

There is literally so much news going on right now! Rachel’s just announced that she will appear along side Tristan MacManus (rather than Vincent) in this years Christmas special for Strictly. Read the official announcement below!!

It’s all go at Rachel HQ at the moment with The Voice and getting back together with S Club 7 for Children in Need and just when I thought it couldn’t get any more exciting/couldn’t squeeze any more dates into the diary … I can now announce that I’ll be back on TV for the Strictly Come Dancing Christmas Special!

I’ve been twitching to tell you about this for a little while but have been sworn to secrecy! As you know, I’m a huge Strictly fan (I’m #TeamFrankie all the way this year although there are a LOT of good people in the line up so I’m hooked as usual) so to be able to put my dancing shoes back on is amazing. We’re back in rehearsals getting ready for a pantomime inspired Christmas routine and whilst it’s strange not to be dancing with Vincent as we had a very special bond, Tristan MacManus is my equally fabulous partner in crime this year and we’re having lots of fun already as he puts me through my paces. So a big thank you to him!

Other people joining the Christmas Special this year are Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Lisa Riley, Louis Smith, Chris Hollins and Russell Grant – Sir Bruce will also be back this year hosting with Tess so it will be like old times!

I really miss dancing, it’s such a great feeling once you’ve got the routine down. And it’s one of the best work outs I’ve done! When you’re in your dress, the music starts and the live audience get excited of course it’s really nerve wracking and you slightly wonder what you’re doing and if you’ll remember the steps and all those kinds of things but the feeling you have in those few minutes with your partner, is magical.

I can’t wait to get under that famous glitter ball again and I hope you’ll tune in to find out what we’re dancing to, I’d love your support.

Rachel Backs Former S Clubber Frankie Bridge on Strictly Come Dancing

Rachel Stevens is backing S Club Juniors’ Frankie Bridge to take home this year’s Strictly Come Dancing crown. Back in the good ol’ days of Rachel’s band, S Club 7, they created a mini version of themselves called S Club Juniors (who later graduated to S Club 8) and twelve-year-old Frankie was among the group’s eight members, alongside her Saturdays bandmate Rochelle Humes. They were basically brilliant and everybody and their dog were bopping along to ‘One Step Closer’ at their school discoes whilst trying to master Daisy’s fishtail plaits. It was a great time to be alive.

Grown up S Club member, Rachel, impressed when she took to the Strictly dancefloor back in 2008, coming in second place overall. And speaking exclusively to Yahoo, the 36-year-old reveals that she hopes Frankie goes all the way this year, saying: “I love Strictly, I’m definitely watching. “I have to back Frankie to win, she’s amazing and she’s my S Club Junior so obviously I have to support her. She is great, I think she is going to go really far.”

And although it’s The Saturdays’ star that she wants to take home the trophy, Rachel is full of praise for the other contestants, gushing: “It’s a really brilliant line-up this year. I love Mark Wright, he’s gorgeous, and Jake Wood is brilliant. “And Pixie Lott too, it’s a really, really brilliant line-up.”

But watching the show is a bittersweet experience for the singer, who tells us: “Watching always makes me miss being there. I love dancing and it’s something I really want to get back and do in some way. “I loved being on Strictly, I’ve never trained as a dancer so getting the opportunity to do it is what’s so amazing about the show. It’s incredible.”

Rachel Opens Up on Days in S Club

Rachel had a very lengthy interview with Daily Mail, In the interview Rachel seemingly takes a look back at her career and hits on different subjects including being in S Club and hating her time in the band, Her bitter relationship with her father, Strictly Come Dancing, and the meeting regarding the S Club reunion.

There are few times when Rachel Stevens’ new life as a mother, and her old one as a sex symbol and No 1 pop star, collide. But when they do it’s almost always at children’s parties.  Reach, the S Club 7 song Rachel and her six bandmates had a hit with in 2000, may be more than a decade old but its catchy beat still makes it a firm favourite when it comes to toddler discos.  ‘Whenever it comes on everyone looks at me to see how I’ll react,’ she smiles. ‘I think it’s brilliant that people are still playing our music. But all that stuff feels like a lifetime ago. So much has changed.’

S Club 7 split up ten years ago and Rachel, as the band’s most famous face and resident FHM poster girl, went on to have a successful solo career and even acted in a couple of films. But then record sales fell and it went a bit quiet. Next came Strictly Come Dancing in 2008 (Rachel came  second behind actor Tom Chambers). But then, just as she had our attention again, she vanished.  That was thanks to Amelie, her two-year-old daughter with property developer husband Alex Bourne. Rachel, 35, has enjoyed a quiet couple of years being a mother, but now she’s ready to get back to work.

‘Being in a band gave me a strong work ethic and I’ve always been very driven,’ she says. ‘I’ve loved spending time with Amelie but I knew I needed to do something else. If she worried about being forgotten she needn’t have. She’s just become the face of Next’s Petites range, for women 5ft 3in and under, while from now until September you’ll see her face all over bottles of Belu water.  Proceeds will go to WaterAid – she’s an ambassador for the charity – and on a recent trip to Ethiopia in that capacity she says she met a single mother of eight who had to walk miles to get a bucket of dirty water, which certainly made Rachel appreciate her life a little more.

Since being ‘spotted’ in the canteen at Sony Records (at the time she was dreaming of becoming a fashion buyer and was only there to have lunch with her brother), and signed up to the band by Spice Girls Svengali Simon Fuller before he’d even heard her sing, Rachel has always happily admitted that, although she’s ambitious, there’s never been a plan.  She’d quite like to try her hand at more acting (the S Club 7 singers also starred in their own faux reality show, a kind of modern-day version of The Monkees) and she’s even been discussing – feel free to squeal or shriek depending on your taste – an S Club reunion.

‘We met at Tina Barrett’s flat and it was like we’d never been apart,’ she says. ‘It was really chilled. We talked about getting back together and although we all have our own stuff going on right now, if the right thing came up it could be fun.’  Read More…

Vincent Simone’s Favorite Celebrity….

Strictly partner Vincent Simone was recently asked whom his favorite celebrity was, Of course it was our very own Rachel!!

Who was your favorite celebrity dancer?
Louisa Lytton and Rachel Stevens. They are great girls. Louisa was my first ever show and she was such a good dancer, she made it quite easy for me. I’ve learnt a lot more how to work the cameras since then. With Rachel we got to the final. I still believe that was going to be our year to win – we should have won. It was such a shame, but we still keep in touch.

RUMOR: Rachel to Judge Strictly Come Dancing

Former Strictly Come Dancing contestant Rachel Stevens has said she could easily fill Alesha Dixon’s shoes on the panel. The S Club 7 star, who finished as runner up in the 2008 contest, told DigitalSpy she’d be up for joining the show as a judge after Alesha deflect to ITV. “I could definitely fill Alesha’s shoes,” she told the website. “I could give that a good go. Definitely!” With Alesha now settling in on Britain’s Got Talent, there’s certainly space for Rachel to join Strictly, and with the singer still holding the show’s best ever scores for her Foxtrot and Rumba, she’s got the credentials to match. Rachel added: “I’d love the opportunity to do something where I could really give my opinion, my feisty side – it’d be fun!” Strictly Come Dancing 2012 returns for a new series in the autumn, with the BBC expected to announce their plans for the judging panel later in the spring.
