Rachel Lets Us Peep Insider Her Closet

Singer, actress and Strictly Come Dancing star Rachel Stevens opens the closet in the north London home she shares with husband Alex and their daughters, Minnie Blossom, two, and six-year-old Amelie

This fabulous lipstick-red crêpe off -the-shoulder dress by Self Portrait is really flattering and has a lovely 1950s vibe. I love the silhouette, which is sexy but doesn’t show too much flesh. It’s glamorous and chic in a Sarah Jessica Parker kind of way. I bought it wear to a big charity gala hosted by Eva Longoria in 2015, and wore it again to a friend’s wedding last year. I’ll still get lots of wear out of it because that bright red is so classic and timeless.

I have three favourite ‘trophy’ coats and jackets that I rely on all through the year: a black leather biker jacket (right), which I bought in Whistles years ago, a classic camel Burberry trench coat with checked lining and a fabulous leopard-print faux fur coat by Shrimps, which has interchangeable grey or pink collars. It’s surprisingly versatile and makes a statement of even the simplest outfit. I have a real soft spot for leopard prints.

When I find a jumpsuit or dungarees with the right proportions – I’m only five feet tall – I’m thrilled.
They can be dressed up or down with a sheer top or a stripy Breton T-shirt, and pointed heels or slides. This pale denim jumpsuit from Anthropologie is lovely and summery, so I’ll keep it that way by washing it separately from my darker denims.

The thing I spend most money on is bags: I love this blue suede Chloé Drew bag and Alex bought me a classic nude leather Chanel bag as a 30th birthday present, which goes with everything.

I bought these leopard-print culottes in H&M and they are my go-to for everyday without compromising on style. They are lightweight and comfy and travel really well – I’ve washed them hundreds of times and they always look fabulous.

I bought this silky pyjama top and some matching palazzo trousers in Zara last summer, and they work really well as separates or worn together for that sophisticated loungewear style that’s really in. I like the shirt with a camisole and my black leather wraparound skirt from Whistles, or with black jeans for everyday. I wear the trousers with a strappy shoe and my black leather biker jacket.
