Rachel Lauren Stevens was born on April 9, 1979 to a Linda and Michael Stevens. The two divorced when Rachel was young and was deveasted by the news. Also at a young age Rachel became a model for various advertisments such as for hair. At 16 Rachel got into a horride car accident which knocked her two front teeth out. After she was approached, along side her brother to audition for an up and coming pop band which would later be known as S Club 7.
The band spent 4 years together, recorded six albums (including the 2003 release of their greatest hits album, and the U.S. complation of “Dont Stop Movin’”), four television series, countless television specials, and a movie and called it a day. Rachel went on to sign a million dollar recording contract with 19/Polydor. She rush recorded her debut album “Funkydory” which spawned the hits “Sweet Dreams My L.A. Ex”, “Funkydory” and was later rereleased to include the charity hit “Some Girls” and the Sky Sports theme “More More More”.
Rachel’s cover version of “More More More” became the highest charting version of that song, charting higher than not only the original recording artist Andrea True Connection, but also Bananarama. Rachel also donated her liking to the chairity single “Do They Know Its Christmas”. Around this time Rachel began working with producers for her second album and in March of 2005 she released the lead single by the name of “Negotiate With Love” which was followed by “So Good” and “I Said Never Again (But here we are)” and later the album “Come and Get It”
Due to the early online-leak of the album it got a less than favorable chart-position and lead to speculation as to what would happen to Rachel’s career, She began touring in 2006 doing small university tours. In late 2006 Rachel began taking periodic trips to L.A., California to begin work on a acting career, with a starring role in the 2003 S-Club hit “Seeing Double”, but also two cameo’s in 2004′s “Suzie Gold” and 2005′s “Deuce Bigalow” behind her belt she began looking at roles in more serious movies. Around the same time news broke of a possible third album when the track “Guide to Seduction” was added to Rachel’s preformance list.
While in L.A. Rachel was reintroduced to a childhood friend by the name of Alex Bourne (Also known as Alex Lewis), the two began dating. The two were in L.A. both working on their acting careers. In 2007 the two returned to London and lived their lives there. They at some point moved out of Rachel’s house and got a flat together. In June of 2008 Alex proposed to Rachel on holiday in Italy. When Rachel returns from the holiday news broke of her appearing on that years season of ‘Strictly Come Dancing’
Rachel was partnered with Vincent Simone and the two ended up placing second in the competition, much to fan’s disliking. After the competition Rachel was over Rachel began touring with the Strictly cast, winning the votes everynight for a month straight. Rachel put her wedding with Alex on hold to concentrate on practicing for Strictly. In July of 2009 Rachel was robbed of her engadgement ring and was forced to have another made.
On August 2 2009 Rachel Lauren Stevens became Rachel Lauren Bourne, but professionally kept her name of Stevens. The future of Rachel’s career is left to this day in limbo, but whatever may happen we know Rachel has sold over 12 million records, worldwide.
