S Club 7 to Appear in ‘Comic Relief’ Sketch

Rachel Stevens and S Club appear in Comic Relief sketch

Rachel Stevens, along with her bandmates from S Club 7 will appear in an upcoming Comic Relief sketch!

The band (that was down one member as Jon was sick on the date of filming) will appear in a sketch filmed specifically for Comic Relief’s Red Nose Day which is set to air on 17 March 2023 on BBC.

The sketch is centered around what appears to be S Club (minus Jon) auditioning to represent the United Kingdom in the Eurovision competition. Jon’s absence may have been purposeful, as it is a Eurovision rule that an act may not have more than six performers on stage.

You can catch a glimpse of what is to come on 16 March 2023 on BBC in the clip uploaded to our socials earlier this week!

This is not the first time Rachel was part of Comic Relief, during her solo career, Rachel appeared sketch titled ‘Spider Plant Man‘ filmed for the 2005 Comic Relief.

Rachel Stevens Graces Fabulous Magazine discusses handling parenthood after divorce, new S Club music, and upcoming reunion tour!

Rachel appears in Fabulous Magazine (out 26 February 2023) and discusses her time following the separation from longtime partner Alex Bourne, she discusses navigating parenting to ensure her daughters do not feel like she did growing up (following her parents split as a teenager) and of course her recent S Club reunion!

Rachel Stevens Photographed for ‘Fabulous’ by Mark Hayman

Rachel Stevens previously described meeting her husband as being like a scene from a romcom. Following a string of failed relationships, the S Club 7 star had sworn off men and was planning a move to LA. But after bumping into childhood sweetheart Alex Bourne, now 45, in London’s Selfridges store, they rekindled their relationship and tied the knot at Claridge’s in 2009. But in July last year, after more than 12 years of marriage, the pair – who have two daughters, Amelie, 12, and Minnie, eight – announced they had split.

Speaking for the first time about their break-up, Rachel, 44, says: “It’s very hard to articulate the feelings, because there are so many. It’s been really painful, really sad. It’s been the biggest decision to make in our lives, obviously, with our kids.” Rachel and Alex’s biggest concern has been protecting their children from the fallout. Rachel’s own parents, Michael and Linda, split when she was 17 and it had a monumental impact on her life, leaving her feeling lost for many years.

“I worried about the girls having the experience I had,” she admits. “We’ve had some amazing advice on how to speak to them. They know how much we love them and we are not going anywhere. “Our split is very amicable and that’s really helping. It’s only the last two weeks that we’ve not been living together. That was definitely difficult. We’re doing it with love and respect, but it’s a process. “It’s taken a lot of navigating. We are going to mess up and make mistakes. But we are acknowledging that to them, and I feel so lucky.” She credits a therapist, who she started seeing twice a week after her own parents split, for guiding her through the break-up .

“I’m so grateful for having therapy,” Rachel admits. “Having that outlet to talk to someone with no judgement or emotional attachment. She just gets it. I think it’s so important for all of us to feel seen, heard and understood. “Through my therapy, I’ve learned how to parent better. I want to be the best mum I can be. And I say to the girls: ‘I’ve made a mistake.’ It’s important for them to see that we’re not perfect – that parents are human.” She says communication has been key to getting the family through the break-up. “When my parents divorced, I didn’t know what was going on. As parents, you will do anything to protect your children, but you are actually not protecting them by keeping them in the dark. You need to be honest with them.

“We need to respect that they are emotionally smart. Otherwise, they make things up in their own mind and that’s more damaging. It’s a balance and you have to park your stuff and focus on them. “It’s been very planned how we’ve told them that we were separating. But you can’t always get everything right. It’s just not possible.” Starting again as a single mum after more than a decade, Rachel is trying to embrace new beginnings. She recently moved out of the family’s north London home into a new place with her daughters, admitting that she had been “drowning in boxes” and a “mix of emotions”. “Moving house has been stressful, but it’s really exciting. Choosing interiors and decorating – I love that. “It’s my place with the girls. That feels empowering. We’re creating a home, which is wonderful, but there are so many feelings around it. Mainly good, but also scary,” she says.

Throughout the ’90s and ’00s, posters of Rachel adorned the walls of teenage boys across the country, with even Declan Donnelly joking on SMTV Live how much he fancied her. She frequently graced the covers of lads’ magazines and appeared in FHM’s 100 Sexiest Women list a whopping 11 times – even being voted “sexiest woman of all time” in 2014. And she admits men have wasted no time in asking her out now she’s single again. “Yeah, there’s been a few [offers to take her out],” she giggles. “But no, I’m not ready to start dating. I’ve got enough going on for now. But I love love. I’m the soppiest person. We should be happy to be in love and deserve all the great things in life.” As well as adjusting to single life, Rachel is set to be rather busy career-wise.

Not only will she be performing solo at Mighty Hoopla festival in June, but earlier this month it was announced she would be reuniting with her S Club 7 band mates – Jon Lee, Hannah Spearritt, Jo O’Meara, Paul Cattermole, Bradley McIntosh and Tina Barrett – for an 11-date tour across the UK and Ireland this October, to celebrate the band’s 25th anniversary. She explains: “Simon [Fuller, the music mogul behind the Spice Girls, who put the band together] got back in touch with us. It was 1,000,000% yes, absolutely, from me. It’s crazy how quickly that time has gone. Our music stands the test of time. People need fun and nostalgia more than ever. “And we just want to ‘bring it all back’ [laughs] – no pun intended. We want to bring that joy back and get back out there. “We’ve kept in touch on and off through social media or WhatsApp. Everyone’s just kind of gone their separate ways. But when we’re back in a room together, there’s so much love. We’re like a family.”

S Club 7 had phenomenal success. They sold more than 10 million records between 1999 and 2003, embarked on three arena tours, won two BRIT Awards, starred in numerous BBC TV series and even a feature-length film, Seeing Double. “There are already discussions to get the shows on streaming services, as well as the possibility of recording new material after the tour. “I’m so proud of what we achieved with the music, and for my kids to be able to see it as well,” Rachel says. “Last time we did a tour, my eldest was three.

“At the minute, I’m just Mummy. I sing on the way to school and they’re like: ‘Mum, stop, you’re making me cringe.’ But they are proud, too. If our songs come on the radio, they love it, so now this is a chance for them to really be a part of it. “Between the seven of us, we have seven kids, and it’s the same ratio of three boys and four girls. We have this little mini-me ready-made S Club 7 ready to go. It’s S Club Junior Juniors!” A mini version of the band could actually be a reality, as both Rachel’s girls are keen to follow in her footsteps. “They are TikTok mad. Amelie has just done a year in Les Misérables and now she’s a first year at drama school. It was hard, as she got offered the part before lockdown.

“There was this massive excitement, getting the part after all these auditions, finally getting in front of Cameron Mackintosh, and then this massive disappointment when it all closed.”But it was an incredible learning curve and she had no idea if she would still get it when it opened up. She had to do the whole process again and got the part. “There is no question about what she’s going to do. She’s sung ever since she was little. It’s not me, she’s driven by herself, but I am supporting her. It’s so ingrained in her, this raw talent. “I can’t get her to do her homework, but if you give her a script or a song, she’s so passionate about it. She just loves singing and performing. She’s a natural. Then my little one wants to be an actress, but she’s still finding her way.”

As well as the thrill of performing again, Rachel is most excited to see the band’s costumes, though some of the ’90s relics will not be making a reappearance. “I don’t have any of the outfits from that time. It’s probably a good thing. Like hankybandanas or a crop top tied with a string – we probably need to leave them where they were. Although, ’90s fashion is back and kinda cool now.” While Rachel went on to record two solo albums, as well as competing on Strictly Come Dancing, Dancing On Ice and releasing clothing collections with Oasis, some of her band mates have not fared so well.

It was revealed in The Sun that Hannah and her long-term partner, Adam Thomas, 42, had spent Christmas living in a friend’s office with their two daughters after losing their home. “It’s horrible knowing someone’s going through a tough time,” Rachel says. “I think we’ve all faced challenges, especially through the last few years. Life is full of ups and downs. And you know we’re all there for her. We’ll be able to support each other.” Part of S Club 7’s appeal was that there were seven personalities and fans could all identify with one. Rachel was often dubbed “the hot one”, but despite her undeniable beauty, she struggled with her appearance.

“I put such a pressure on myself to feel perfect and be in control,” she says. “I wanted to be perfect in everything. It was very much about appearance. I grew up feeling like everything was outside-in. I struggled with that and I went into S Club feeling very guarded. “It was at a time when my parents were divorcing and we moved house and I had no sort of grounding. I was so lost. “Everything I had known had gone. I didn’t know who I was. Then this amazing thing happened at 19. I was still quite young. It was incredible, but I ended up becoming this person who I thought I kind of have to be.” In fact, she put up a persona of “Rachel from S Club” and lost the real Rachel Stevens in the process. It’s taken years of therapy to find herself again.

Despite it being 25 years since the band’s formation, Rachel looks almost exactly the same. But she admits she is nervous about putting herself back in the public eye at 44. “I’ve been moving house with no make-up and wearing tracksuit bottoms. I’ve been in my bubble of dealing with a lot of personal stuff. “Now I’m about to go back out there. I have all my insecurities and I’ll be in front of hundreds of photographers. I’m someone who, when I feel vulnerable, I want to hide. But I’ve realised it is OK to feel those things and that is empowering. “More than anything, when you are happy, it shows on your face. If you are comfortable in yourself, that’s the most beautiful thing.”

S Club 7 are preparing to Bring It All Back by reuniting for a 25th anniversary tour — in a bid to “bring some positivity” to Britain.

Tonight they confirmed they will perform 11 shows in arenas across the UK and Ireland this October.

In their first print interview in eight years the group — left to right, above top, Hannah Spearritt, 41, Jon Lee, 40, Jo O’Meara, 43, Paul Cattermole, 45, Rachel Stevens, 44, Bradley McIntosh, 41, and Tina Barrett, 46 — admitted: “It’s been so depressing”.

Tina said: “Everything, every day. It’s like, what’s next? A zombie invasion? So we thought, let’s get S Club back together and bring some positivity back.”

Jo continued: “I think because it’s been 25 years, we all kind of knew. It was always going to happen again and it was just a matter of when.”

Rachel added: “People want nostalgia. They want to be taken back to those good times.

“It’s amazing to celebrate these things. It’s 25 years so I think the world needs a bit of joy.”

The group previously reunited for a tour in 2015 and now admit they could have regrouped sooner, except they couldn’t find Jon.

He said: “That’s why it’s taken so long to do this, they couldn’t find me.

“I was in India for three and a half years. I went travelling and then I found some dogs over there which I adopted and brought home.

“But I stayed there for a while.

“It’s such an incredible opportunity and when life throws something like that in front of you, you’d be mental not to take it.

“To do an arena tour is incredible anyway and this will be our fifth.”

In five years, from 1998 to 2003, they released four albums, performed three arena tours, won two Brit Awards, had a TV series and even made a feature-length film, Seeing Double.

But they believe they are now ready for their biggest challenge yet — Glastonbury Festival.

Recalling some of their own most memorable moments, Rachel said: “We got to be on stage with some amazing people. We performed with people like Paul McCartney, Brian May, Cliff Richard and Phil Collins.”

Jo continued: “We’ve been very lucky. But we need Glastonbury next. I’m going to manifest it. We need to do it.

“Can you imagine the whole of the Glastonbury crowd singing Reach? It would be pretty amazing.”

Paul added: “If you do talk to Emily Eavis, we want the Pyramid Stage please.”

The news of their reunion will mean their kids will get to see them live. Hannah said: “I realised today that between us we have seven kids. Isn’t that spooky? And it’s the same ratio of three boys and four girls.”

Rachel went on to say her daughter Amelie, 12, now wants to follow her path into pop. She explained: “There’s no question because she’s so passionate about it. It’s incredible to see her loving what she does and I’m fully behind her.”

On the reaction to the news of S Club 7’s reunion, Rachel recalled: “My daughter said, ‘Are you going to be famous again?’”

Hannah and Paul dated during the band’s original run and rekindled their romance during the 2015 reunion.

However, she is now with long-term partner Adam Thomas, 42, a fitness trainer.

The Sun revealed last month how the couple were left homeless at Christmas.

They had to live in a friend’s office with their two girls after they were asked for a “crazy” £6,000 up front for a short-term rental.

The group are yet to discuss the prospect of new music.

But they do want to explore other paths and hope to bring their famous CBBC series’ Miami 7, LA 7, Hollywood 7 and Viva S Club to streaming services.

Rachel added: “There’s so many exciting things that we can do. We’ve got so much stuff from our history that we can put out there. It would be so nice to bring it to a new generation of people.”

Bradley also promised they will be performing a range of tracks live, as well as their greatest hits.

He said: “When we do tours we usually stick to the same songs — the most popular ones. But it would be nice to throw in some of our favourite album tracks as well.”

The S Club 7 Reunited tour kicks off at Liverpool’s M&S Bank Arena on October 13 with dates across the country, ending at London’s O2 Arena on October 28. Tickets on sale this Friday via Ticketmaster.

The 25th-anniversary tour is an opportunity for S Club 7 fans of every generation to come together and re-experience the timeless pop hits that soundtracked the British charts for five years. OFFICIAL: S Club 7 Announcement coming 13 February 2023

Following a leak of a tour date yesterday, and the changing of logos on their official social media earlier today, the official S Club 7 social media pages have posted a video announcing an announcement that is set to take place on 13 February 2023.

S Club 7 will appear on BBC’s “The One Show” on Monday to officially announce reunion plans.

From their management:

If today you are aged between 30 and 45, the chances are that S Club 7 provided the soundtrack to your youth. Between 1998 and 2002, the Group’s infectious pop hits dominated the charts and shaped much of British pop culture. Starting with Bring It All Back and continuing with classics including Reach, Never Had A Dream, S Club Party, Don’t Stop Moving, Natural, You and Two In A Million, S Club 7 created a powerful sense of fun, optimism and belonging at the turn of the Millennium. With multiple TV series providing a showcase for the Group’s talent, energy and songs, S Club 7 won the hearts of a massive and loyal following, picking up BRIT Awards, fronting BBC’s Children In Need Appeal and selling out arenas around the country. S Club 7’s music and spirit is timeless. Just watch any dancefloor fill up when the DJ plays Reach, and you’ll see how quickly the crowd are taken back to the fun and friendship that S Club 7 inspired. 25 years on, everything has changed, but everything remains the same. Time to bring it all back?

This marks the second reunion for S Club 7 following a brief reunion in 2014/2015 with the ‘Bring It All Back’ tour.

Rachel Stevens teases Mighty Hoopla Setlist!

Ahead of her June 2023 return to the stage, Rachel has sat down with Mighty Hoopla to get the inside scoop on what’s happening in the world of Rachel ahead of her re-debut.

There was one name that got you over-excited (and trending on Twitter!) when we announced our headliners for 2023…

Yes, Rachel Stevens is returning to music and gracing the Mighty Hoopla stage with her big musical comeback on the 3rd AND 4th June, and we got the inside scoop from our favourite pint-sized popstar about what to expect from her Mighty Return…

I am so beyond excited! I can’t wait to perform for everyone at Mighty Hoopla and just get back out there. It’s been a while and I’m ready to have the best time on stage with everyone and bring a bit of nostalgia with me.

Well… I guess you’ll just have to wait and see. I might well dust off the red ribbons but I think the audience will need to too.

I’ve had the opportunity to perform in a range of different ways over the years, through music and dance. The thing I’ve missed most is performing my own music and also being so connected with an audience and seeing people really love what you do and enjoying the moment, can’t wait! Show me your Colours is one of my favourite S Club songs and it’s so lovely to hear that it’s loved by the Mighty Hoopla community, so yes it might have to be worked into the set list.

Since planning the set list there are really quite a few that I’m so excited to perform, but the main ones would be LAX, Some Girls and now potentially Show Me Your Colours.

A fabulous show outfit, with the biggest heels and masses of positive energy and love for such a brilliant event.

I couldn’t possibly choose one but I’d say sassy, playful and kitsch!

You can purchase tickets for Rachel and a gaggle of other stars for Mighty Hoopla on 3rd June and 4th June 2023 in London’s Brockwell Park by clicking here!

Rachel Stevens appears in Debenhams Christmas Advert

With another ‘perfect Christmas’ on the horizon, Rachel is hitting our screens alongside reality TV star Jess Wright in a new Christmas advertisement for Debenhams.

Check out the advert below

Although Rachel is of Jewish religion, she does celebrate Christmas having previously participated in the 1999 film The Greatest Store In The World, the 2000 S Club Christmas Special, appeared in numerous Strictly Come Dancing Christmas Specials, appeared in the 2004 Marks and Spencer’s Christmas Advertisement, and most famously, appeared in the 2004 ‘Do They Know It’s Christmas’ music video taping.

Rachel Stevens gushes over her daughter Amelie

Rachel and her eldest daughter Amelie sat down exclusively with Hello! Magazine to share some exciting news regarding Amelie’s career path (hint: she’s reaching for the stars!!)

Check out the interview below, and pick up a copy on sale from tomorrow (15 August 2022).

In a new photoshoot with her 11-year-old daughter in HELLO! magazine, Rachel Stevens talks of her pride in how Amelie is now the one poised to reach for the stars, since taking to the stage in Sir Cameron Mackintosh’s Les Miserables – and reveals the advice she has shared.

The former S Club 7 singer and Dancing on Ice star, who is also mum to Minnie, aged eight, tells HELLO!, “Amelie really does lead this herself – I’m encouraging but not pushy, and from all the learning I’ve taken from my career, I try to give her the best advice I can and be there to answer her questions”

In their first joint photoshoot and interview, Amelie tells how, “The best advice my mum has given me is never give up on your dreams. If you put your mind to something you love, you can do anything.”

Of her famous mum, Amelie adds: “It is really weird and funny to think how my mum was a pop star before I was even born. It is cool that I have a mum that’s famous. I love watching the videos of S Club 7.”

Rachel was roughly the same age as Amelie when she went to a concert that would change her life forever.

“I went to see Kylie and I was in awe; I was spellbound. And I will never forget saying to my mum, ‘That’s what I want to do one day’,” recalls Rachel. “But it was just a pipe dream.”

Except, of course, it wasn’t. A chance meeting some eight years later, at the age of 19, with a couple of music producers in the canteen of Sony Records, where her younger brother worked, led to Rachel becoming a member of one of the best-loved bands of the noughties.

“It was one of those ‘meant to be’ moments, I guess – and in a way, that’s what happened to Amelie.”

Rachel Stevens Lands New Gig as Guest Host on ‘Heart Radio’

Rachel Stevens, who is no stranger to hitting the airwaves with her hit singles “Sweet Dreams My L.A. Ex” and “Some Girls” is in talks to join Heart Radio in the coming weeks!

Rachel will be joining a slew of other celebrities such as former Spice Girl Emma Bunton, Kelly Brook and Jamie Theakston (to name a few) initially on a temporary basis filling in for other hosts while on holiday, or working on other projects.

A source told The Sun on Sunday: “Bosses are keen to get Rachel on staff and she sees it as the fresh start she needs…”

Her radio debut has yet to be confirmed but watch this space!

Rachel Stevens’ Former Strictly Come Dancing Partner: ‘I should have won Strictly’

Fans may remember the natural chemistry between Rachel Stevens and Vincent Simone when they hit the Strictly Come Dancing dancefloor back in 2008. The duo’s dances are still praised as the best of the series. Before heading out on tour, Vincent Simone has been doing some press and has revisited his time with Rachel on the show!

Vincent says dancing with the former S Club 7 singer was his Strictly highlight. “We had this amazing connection and we looked beautiful together,” he said. “It was hard work with her because people thought she was a trained dancer but actually she wasn’t so I had to work twice as hard.

“We managed to succeed and we managed to make the final and we finished second even though that was the year when we should have won – they had that muck-up with the judging. But people still remember my rumba and my Argentine tango so dancing with Rachel Stevens was the highlight of being on Strictly.”

Rachel Stevens: “I get so much inspiration from women everyday”

In a recent interview Rachel speak with HER in regards to her fashion influences.

When S Club 7 burst onto the scene in 1999, they brought us hit after hit, as well as some iconic fashion moments. One alumni who will admit to the odd fashion faux pas during the early 2000s is Rachel Stevens, but since then, she’s been on quite the sartorial journey. In fact, she credits those early pop days as being a pivotal moment in finding her own style.

“I’ve always loved fashion since I was little,” Rachel tells Her. “My grandma had this fashion boutique that I used to go and spend loads of time in, and I was just around it all the time. And then, obviously, my career took me into a world where it was all about fashion, and, being in a pop band in the 2000s, I made a lot of fashion faux pas.”

The S Club 7 members went their separate ways in 2003, and Rachel kickstarted her own super successful solo career (who could forget the absolute banger that is Sweet Dreams my LA Ex?). During this time, she learned more and more about fashion, and how to dress for her frame. After all, at five foot, she is quite petite.

She says: “Throughout my career, I’ve got to work with some amazing stylists and designers, and I’ve been to a million fittings so I’ve learnt what works on my body shape, and because I’m petite, I’m constantly having to shorten everything.

“I believe we can wear anything, it’s just about proportions and how it fits on your body.”

In terms of influence, Rachel gets ideas from the women in her life.

“I get so much inspiration from women everyday,” she says. “There are a lot of influencers who I follow who I admire, but it could also be a woman on the street. I’m that person who will go up to someone and go, ‘Oh my God, where is that dress from?’ I just love style, I love fashion, I love clothes.”

Over the past few years, Rachel has channeled her passion professionally, and her latest edit with Oasis is a testament to that.

Defining it stylistically, Rachel says the collection is “feminine, but with an edge to it”.

“It’s a real mix of gorgeous statement dresses, it’s all about the details and the shapes. I love a big drama sleeve, the scalloped edges, the details in the stitching. It’s just really wearable, comfortable, stylish, but also with an edge to it.”
